An electromagnet will become magnetic only if an electrical current flows through it and a generator which uses electromagnets or "field coils" requires a flow of electricity through the electromagnets for the machine to work. If there is no flow of electricity via the wires then it will not work.

The magnetic generator however uses the rotating magnets to generate electrical energy in the first place. It produces more energy than is necessary to keep the magnets rotating and so you can utilize the excess to power your home.
